The area surrounding Moab is ripe with adventure and scenery just waiting to be discovered. Avid tent and RV campers have access to little nooks along the way, to a number of areas that have been designated as campgrounds. These lands are managed and made available to the public.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) manages campsites all along the Colorado River. There are numerous sites on the Scenic Byway Hwy 128. There are campsites closer to the rock climbing and rock art on Hwy 279 (Potash), as well as Kane Creek.
Sand Flats Recreation Area Campgrounds
The Sand Flats Recreation Area and Campground, located just 3 miles from town, has a number of campsites available with easy access to the world-famous Slickrock Trail and Porcupine Rim for mountain biking enthusiasts, and to Hell’s Revenge and Fins ‘N’ Things for ATV and 4×4 enthusiasts. These campsites offer a great place to set up camp with a view, with close proximity to trail heads for visitors who are planning on camping while they explore the area.
