Come and register for the 6th annual Gran Fondo Moab, held May 1st and 2nd, 2015 in and around Moab, Utah!
What is Gran Fondo Moab?
Gran Fondo Moab is a 60 mile bike tour held in Moab where cyclists are treated to one of the most spectacular scenic biking loops in the world. This event is not a sanctioned race but cyclists are encouraged to compete against teammates and friends if so desired. All cyclists will be timed accurately along this route and awards given to the top five men and women finalists. The true enjoyment of participating in this traditional bike tour will be the amazing sights and freedom you’ll experience as you wind and climb your way from Moab, through the La Sal Mountain Range, and back to Moab on the old Loop Road.
As every outdoor enthusiast knows, safety is key to really enjoying your experience. There will be a police escort along the first two miles until cyclists are safely out of congested areas, at which point the road will wind along the banks of the beautiful Colorado River, through the Castle Valley Overlook, and peak out at Geyser Pass. From there the final 22 miles are all downhill back to the finish point in Old City Park, Moab. All cyclists must expect to encounter steep switchbacks, blind corners, mild traffic, and road hazards. The ascent itself totals about 5500 feet and can be very taxing for inexperienced cyclists.
